Any iPhone user knows this, having the right work tool can make all the difference. Not only will your device be a pleasure to use, but it will also help you be more productive and efficient every day. If the following tips are not to be used regularly, they may well save you considerable time when the need arises. So how do you empty the memory of an iPhone? It all depends on the model of your iPhone.

Touch ID

For iPhone with Touch ID, here is the procedure to follow:

Go to Settings > General > Switch off.
Do not slide the latch to turn off your device! Instead, press and hold the Touch ID button until you return to the home screen (which usually takes a few seconds).
Enjoy the result of this!
Rather simple isn’t it? To check that the handling worked well, open an application that was already running. You will see that the application recharges completely, without returning to the original state.

If your iPhone does not have a Touch ID, but it is equipped with Face ID - iPhone X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, and 11 Pro - the process will be a bit more complicated, because you need to generate a virtual home button on the screen.

Face ID

For starters, if your iPhone is equipped with Face ID, you will need to activate the "Assistivetouch" function. A small menu will then appear on your screen (you can move it), allowing you to perform gestures such as pinching or scanning, which normally require several fingers, with one finger, and provides quick access to a variety of functions. This feature is very useful, you can use it especially to make screenshots. It also allows you to have a virtual button on the screen, our lens.

To activate Assistivetouch, you have three options:

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Touch > Assistivetouch, then activate Assistive touch.
You can also go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut and click Assistive touch.
Finally, you can implement ask Siri: «Enable Assistivetouch».
The first option is probably the best because it allows to immediately add the "Home" button to the menu by clicking on "Customize the parent menu"... and making sure that the "Home" button is there. Press a button to add it if it is not there.

When this part is finished, you will be able to erase your device’s RAM:

Go to Settings > General > Off.
Do not slide the latch to turn off your device! Instead, display the "Assistivetouch" menu and hold the virtual "Home" button until the screen returns to the lock screen (about one second).
Enjoy the result of this!
To check that the handling worked, open an application that was already running. You will see that the app recharges completely, and does not return to the screen where you left it.
