Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus
three months with the best Android smartphone for pros
After a three month of intensive use, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus stands out as the best Android smartphone for professionals. Pending the upcoming competition from Huawei’s P30 Pro.
A no-fault one. This is what the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus achieved after a 3 month of intensive use. My main SIM card has indeed spent most of last month in the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and the latest smartphone from the Korean manufacturer is proving almost perfect in all areas.
The battery lasts me easily for a day, the multiple cameras give excellent results and it has helped me to remain productive in the office, in the field, in my travels and travelling for work. After a few weeks of use, I have put the Galaxy S10 Plus at the top of my list of top 10 smartphones and even with the impressive cameras of the Huawei P30 Pro, the S10 Plus will probably keep this place thanks to its worldwide availability.
While the S10 Plus is fantastic, the Note series offers more and that’s why I’ll be waiting for Note 10 later this summer. The Galaxy S series is destined for the mass market and the S10 Plus is likely to sell by millions as it offers more than the S9 Plus of last year. Samsung is good at releasing phones with new technologies and innovations before we see them on other phones.
There is nothing missing from the S10 Plus and when I think back to the last month of usage and into the future, here are several reasons to consider the Galaxy S10 Plus:
*Fit, finish and design: Samsung phones are always well designed and built. The S10 Plus continues this tradition while offering unique colour options, called Prism, that add style and class to the device. The S10 Plus feels almost perfect in the hand and size is a point that makes me wonder using Note 9.
*Infinity-O Display: Samsung’s OLED panels are fantastic and it’s no surprise that we see one of the best ever seen on the Galaxy S10 Plus. The opening of the front camera does not bother me and enjoying the video on the full screen of the S10 Plus is a glorious experience. I am now tired of curved screens however and would not be unhappy if Samsung returned to flat screens where the protectors are easier to install and the finger presses inadvertently are not present.
*Rear View Camera Performance: Samsung has added a wide-angle lens to the back of the S10 Plus and there’s really no scenario, in good lighting, where the S10 Plus can’t help you take great pictures and videos. The S10 Plus is also one of the best in macro shooting, which is an area where Samsung stands out from other smartphones.
* 3.5 mm headphone jack and microSD card slot: These are older technologies, but their convenience continues to satisfy my needs. The use of an expensive headset with cords and the cheap increase in your storage capacity are valuable features that few people continue to implement.
* Long battery life: The Galaxy Note 9 allows me to spend most of the day, but I was very surprised to see that the S10 Plus with only 100 mAh of extra battery capacity allows me to easily spend a busy day with remaining capacity. I did not expect such a long battery life, so it is an advantage that will certainly please, even if I use the S10 Plus for fieldwork.
Wireless Powershare is a new S10 Plus technology that allows you to recharge accessories or other phones on the back of the S10 Plus. I have only used this function once in my evaluation and I have not used it since then. This seems to be a good option, but one that may not be used much.
The iris scanner in my Note 9 worked well and I prefer to use it then the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the glass of the S10 Plus. The scanner works about 80% of the time for me, but if it fails, I get several consecutive failures that then require a PIN code or some other method to unlock the phone. I also frequently see involuntary display activations along the edges, which I don’t see with the Galaxy Note 9, slightly wider.
